Town Center TOD with Forum Studio
Rosedale University Town District is located immediately west of the University of Kansas Hospital and University of Kansas Medical Center. Combined, these institutions employ 12,000 workers and the hospital has plans for substantial growth. They attract significant economic activity to surrounding neighborhoods, attract hundreds of residents, and support the area hospitality market. This activity and growth creates significant development pressures within the area.
The main goals of the Rosedale University Town District Transit Oriented Development & Multimodal Transportation Plan are to improve the area’s access to recreational amenities, improve connectivity for pedestrians and other transportation modes, promote the development of diverse housing products, and enhance access to neighborhood services.
Development Strategies advised the multi-disciplinary consulting team led by Forum Studio regarding development potential, target housing typologies, density, and housing strategies that would balance new development needs with maintaining affordability.
